The early 2017 Grand Strategy game, Realpolitiks, is receiving new content a year after release in the form of the “New Power” DLC. In addition to the paid DLC releasing March 15, 2018, Realpolitiks has also received a free update with extra features and content.
The free update includes the “Outsourcing” project tree. This allows more action points to be generated. In addition, the “Advanced Arms Import” military project tree has been upgraded with the ability to import transport units. Both these additions are meant to make the game easier in the early and later stages. Two other features in the free update include giving away provinces to countries claiming them for improved relations as well as the ability to change the flag and name of a nation at the start. Later game progression will allow renaming of liberated countries and blocks.
The paid “New Power” DLC adds “Korean Crisis”, a new mini-scenario centering around nuclear threats and new features. In “Korean Crisis”, the North Korean nuclear threat becomes reality. Players can either make the situation worse or avoid it altogether. Playable nations in this content pack include China, North Korea, USA, and Japan. The Non-Governmental organizations add a new layer of challenge as they exert pressure on rulers and governments. Several options are provided here ranging from secret mafia work to maintaining relations with separatists. New diplomatic actions include “non-aggression pacts enabling peaceful coexistence with other nations, while political annexation offers another option for enlarging one’s territory without the use of military power. But still, everything comes at a price…“.
