BigBen Interactive has revealed that Rugby World Cup 2015 is coming to multiple platforms this year. The game is being developed by HB Studios and will feature all 20 teams from the World Cup.
“We want to offer a good simulation to rugby fans who will follow their teams in Rugby World Cup 2015,” said Benoît Clerc, head of software at BigBen Interactive. “We hope all our efforts will reach rugby fans’ expectations.”
HB Studios is the developer behind Rugby 15, which was very poorly received when it released last year. Criticism was particularly focused on the poor graphics and large amount of glitches. The last decent rugby game was Rugby Challenge 2 by Sidhe.
Do you have high hopes for Rugby World Cup 2015 or should we expect another broken mess? Leave your answer in the comments section below and tell us what you want to see from a rugby video game.
Rugby World Cup 2015 will be released in September for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and PC.
Why bother when Rugby Challenge 3 has a fan hub, every team, club and international side, plus comps, carer mode, be a pro mode etc.. then there’s the rugby league live 3 which looks even better than RC3. Thing is, RC3 is still somewhat unknown as a new developer has taken over and RC2 was worse than RC1 (go figure!!). But RLL3 is from the makers of RLL2 which was already a great league title, so this could be a great year for the oval ball console games after all.

Given the short turn around between this and Rugby 15, you’d have to assume this is merely a cash grab that will have few substantive issues addressed.
Also, whilst it may have “all 20 teams”, I doubt they’ll all be licensed.
