The mind behind Kingdom Hearts’ latest coat of paint says he isn’t ruling out the possibility of putting the series’ top entires on new-generation consoles, namely Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
Talking to IGN, co-director of Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD Remix Tai Yasue claimed that the instant that work on the upcoming Kingdom Hearts III was given the green light, its predecessors were immediately intended for rerelease via its upcoming HD 1.5 Remix and HD 2.5 Remix rereleases:
When we first came up with the idea for Kingdom Hearts III, it was always 1.5, then 2.5 and we were always thinking about those three titles at the same time. I think [putting the games on PS4] is something we’ll explore.
Paying in mind that Kingdom Hearts III will be coming to an Xbox system for the first time in the series’ history, Yasue elaborated on how likely a multi-platform Kingdom Hearts Remix for Xbox One would be. Though hesitant, Yasue seemed nonetheless open-minded regarding the matter:
It’s a big old question. There’s a lot of things we need to think of when we consider consoles. One of them is what our players want, so we will definitely consider that. But there’s also schedule constraints, as we really don’t want the development of Kingdom Hearts III going later, so we have that to think about. We’ll consider all these things and come to a decision.
Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix is out in North America today for Playstation 3, and the rest of the world later this week. Kingdom Hearts III, meanwhile, is slated for an unclear 2015 release as revealed at E3 2013.
