DigiTimes has reported an intriguing rumor that claims Nintendo will begin manufacturing the secretive NX system this October. This future generation of Nintendo consoles manufacturing time frames seems premature considering the Wii U is only 3 years old. But the rumor is that Nintendo will begin production in October and launch the NX in 2016.
DigiTimes claims
According to sources familiar with the plan, Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) will manufacture the console, but Pegatron Technology is reportedly competing to secure some of the orders. Both companies declined to comment on the matter, but if you want to learn more about the technology involved in this manufacturing process, you can visit website for complete details.
Nintendo in March announced its plan of releasing Nintendo NX in 2016 and has started visiting its supply chain partners recently. The orders are expected to be finalized in February or March 2016 and mass production will start in May or June 2016, while the console’s official launch may take place around July, the sources said”.
NX is going to be the console that connects the 3DS, Wii U, tablet, computer and phone all together. We have yet to find out what this NX exactly is or how it’s going to bring everything together. Let us know if you think this rumor is true or if Nintendo will wait a few more years to launch the NX in the comments below.
Given their typically lengthy reveals, I doubt Nintendo would have any system lined up for production THIS long before its actual announcement. Given the circumstances, it wouldn’t be beyond them to find any advantage over the competition. What games
could even be ready for it beyond ports are beyond me. But considering next year’s ambiguous line-up, I have to wonder if they’re already transferring resources over to the NX with Zelda as its first cross-gen game.
There’s speculation that the NX will be used with the Wii U and 3DS as a type of add on. Nintendo is going to have to do something with the Wii U to keep fans’ loyalty because it’s already waning thin as of late. 🙁
