Sharp eyed twitter user superannuation has noticed that Square Enix recently registered a domain for Just Cause 3. This all but confirms the rumours that have been circulating the industry for the past few months. Just Cause 2 was released by Square Enix back in 2010 and was a critical and commercial success, selling over 6 million copies. Since then, developers Avalanche Studios have released Renegade Cops for Sega and are now working on Warner Bros’ Mad Max game which will be released later this year.
However, Avalanche’s founder Christofer Sundberg wrote on his Linkedin profile that his team are also working on an ”unannounced sandbox action game” for Square Enix, which is set to come out in June 2015 on next generation hardware. To add further credibility to the rumour, Sunderberg told Eurogamer in 2012 that the Just Cause IP ”is perfect for everything that next-gen has to offer.” Expect Just Cause 3 to be announced at this year’s E3 in June.
