According to a report from Eurogamer, developer Gearbox Software is planning a sequel to Borderlands for release sometime next year.
A source close to the project told Eurogamer that Borderlands 2 is coming to the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Although not official the source confirmed to Eurogamer that publisher 2k Games was expected to make an official announcement on Borderlands 2 impending 2012 release soon.
Gearbox officials did not comment on the report.
But back in April when Borderlands 2 was spotted on a game developer’s online curriculum vitae it sparked speculation that 2k Games was planning an announcement for the title at the E3 conference back in June. At that time Gearbox CEO and President Randy Pitchford responded by saying only that the Duke Nukem Forever developer Gearbox Software had every intention to revisit the popular Borderlands franchise but that they were not ready to confirm anything until the time was right. This situation seems no different.
