Hitman is scheduled to be released digitally first on March 11th, 2016, with regular updates coming to it after its launch. However, it looks like some users have been seeing their pre-orders cancelled by Square Enix–on the PS4, at least. The reason hasn’t been revealed yet, but this tweet by David Scammell, news editor for VideoGamer.com, shows the message some users have been receiving:

The cancellation of pre-orders is not new, but usually only happens when release dates are being changed because the product no longer reflects what exactly was purchased. Other users on the Hitman forum have reported similar cancellations for their digital pre-orders. So far, the only cancellations that have been reported are on PS4 and seem to be isolated to European consumers.
A post on the Hitman forum from the community manager of Hitman states “If your pre-order is cancelled, don’t panic. We’re adjusting a few things & will update in a few days. The release date is still set for March 11th.” What exactly is being changed? There was a beta set to be released on February 12th, 2016 that was guaranteed for people who pre-order, so perhaps that date is changing. The February 12th beta release was set to be a week before the PC beta comes out on February 19th, 2016.
