People Can Fly are an exciting group of developers for AAA games – with both Bulletstorm and the co-development of Gears of War: Judgement, they are fun, vibrant names in the industry. So it isn’t surprising that publishers would love to get into bed with them. Square Enix has announced today that they will be doing just that for a new original title made specifically for consoles and PC.
There’s very little about what the game is, but Lee Singleton, Head of Studio at Square Enix London, stated that the team was “…building a game we all want to play which will be the perfect addition to our portfolio.” Of course, that’ll be very interesting to see as People Can Fly has mainly focused on shooters, while Square Enix has not been known primarily for their shooter catalogue. However, it is possible a deal with PCF means an expansion in their catalogue.
Currently, PCF is looking for more gameplay programmers, an AI programmer, and a VFX artist in order to expand its team, presumably for this project. Square Enix also stated that this project will not be a part of their E3 2017 lineup. Are you excited for a new game from People Can Fly? Does Square Enix’s involvement make you more or less excited?
