Hidetaka Suehiro, otherwise known as Swery or Swery65, released a video discussing The Missing. In a collaboration with Arc System Works acting as publisher, Swery hopes to release his newest title worldwide. President and CEO of Arc System Works, Minoru Kidooka, shared a positive message with fans. “I can say with confidence that SWERY is one of the industry’s most unique game developers. We share his vision for creating innovative, genre-bending games and look forward to working with SWERY and his team at White Owls on The Missing”. Arc System Works is giving Swery’s White Owls Inc. studio the creative freedom to make the game they want to make. This vision is so strong that Swery remains confident in stating it will exceed people’s expectations.
The Missing appears to be a personal experience for Mr. Suehiro. When discussing the meaning of his title in the announcement video, he declares: “A missing person, someone who’s lost, or even something lost. Maybe it’s your loved one…or a place you belong. Do you ever feel lost in your everyday life? The Missing is for someone like you”.
Best known for Deadly Premonition and D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die, Swery has been in the industry since the mid-90’s. He got his start with The Last Blade and its sequel for the Neo Geo MVS exclusively in Japan. As a designer on the development team, Tomba! 2: The Evil Swine Returns was the first Swery title to come to western shores. His writing and directorial debut wouldn’t come until the mixed PlayStation 2 stealth game, Spy Fiction, in 2004.
