Activision has announced Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5. This sequel uses the classic, combo-based gameplay from previous games but will also feature new mechanics such as power-ups and projectiles. The creator of the series, Neversoft Entertainment, was shut down by Activision last year so this new instalment will be developed by Robomodo and Disruptive Games. You can check out some screenshots of the game in the gallery below.
Activision has returned to the Pro Skater name in an effort to entice fans back into the series. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 released in 2002 but since then the franchise has been in a long decline. Spin-offs such as Tony Hawk: Shred and Tony Hawk: Ride were critical and commercial failures.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 will be launched on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in late 2015. It will also be released for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 at a later date.
