Swedish developer Tarsier Studios have revealed that they will be releasing their first next gen title exclusively for the PS4. The developer is most famous for their work on LittleBigPlanet for PS Vita. The new game is called Hunger and will be the first time Tarsier has released an original IP. Whilst the company did announce a game called City of Metronome back at E3 2005, the game was never released.
Hunger has a much better chance of seeing the light of day thanks to the funding that the game has received from the Nordic Game Programme. It was announced at the Nordic Game Conference that Tarsier has been given 500,000 Kroner (which is about $91,000 or £54,000) in order for them to complete Hunger. Tarsier CEO Ola Holmdahl was ecstatic at the news, stating that ”This is not only a huge vote of confidence from the Nordic Game Program expert group, the grant enables us to explore an idea we are deeply passionate about. Hunger holds fantastic potential, and our job now is to harness that promise into a great experience.”
Hunger follows the story of a 9 year old girl called Six. She has been kidnapped and is forced to work in an underwater resort called The Maw. An unexpected turn of events gives Six the chance to escape servitude and journey through this strange and unforgiving world. Hunger is described by the developers as “third-person 3D action adventure game with stealth and exploration elements.”
. So far no release date has been given for Hunger but hopefully we will see more details about the game at E3 next month.
