Namco Bandai have revealed that they are hard at work on a seventh instalment in their incredibly popular Tekken franchise. The announcement came at this year’s biggest fighting game tournament Evo 2014, which included a Tekken Tag Tournament 2 competition. Not many details were revealed but we do know that the game will be running on Epic’s Unreal Engine 4 which suggests that it will be released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Since it’s beginning in 1994, the Tekken franchise has followed the story of the Mishimas family who are constantly pitted against each other in the King of the Iron Fist tournament. The teaser trailer above shows some of the franchise’s longest running characters and ends with the tagline, ‘the final battle’. Could this be the last game in the franchise? Or will it simply be the last game to feature the Mishimas family?
Expect more information to be announced at Namco Bandai’s Comic-Con panel on July 25.
