The Wii U currently has an indie developed game for pyromaniacs of all ages, in the form of Little Inferno, but Teku Studios wants to add their own fire-centric game titled Candle to the eShop as well.
Candle is a Kickstarter project for the studio, which is aiming for a grand total of $40,000. However, the project also features several stretch goals for if they exceed said amount, and the Wii U version will be made if the stretch goal of $85,000 is met. If the game doesn’t reach its goal, Teku is reassuring Wii U owners that they will see a version of Candle released at some point or another.
Lead programmer Miguel Valles said that the main focus right now is on meeting the $40,000 goal, so they can get it further into development, published, and out for players to buy. Then, they can focus on the Wii U version, if the budget is there.
One source that spoke to Valles said that Candle is inspired by such games as Flashback or Out of This World, and involve mechanics like those seen in Abe’s Odyssey. The main protagonist of the game is a shaman, who ironically has a candle for a hand (much like classic Lumière from Beauty and the Beast) and his goal is to keep the candle alight. Teku hopes to deliver a calm, puzzle solving experience with flair.
If you’re curious and want to learn more about this interesting game, head over to their Kickstarter page and see if it’s worth a pledge.
