In Metal Gear Solid V, man’s best friend also happens to be Snake’s. That’s right, Metal Gear Solid’s Big Boss has a pooch in his care; a badass one sporting an eye-patch.
Just this past week, Konami showed off the game’s all-new “buddy system” at the Tokyo Game Show, featuring Quiet. The systems allows players to take an ally with them into battle, commanding them in the field and creating a new level of strategy on missions.
Now, Konami’s revealed a new supporting buddy, a wolf named Diamond Dog, or DD for short. In a new video from TGS 2014, we see Snake first find DD in the wilderness next to a dead older wolf when he’s just a little cub. Snake adopts DD, and we later see him as an adult wolf, who like Snake, wears an eye patch.
Over the course of the game, players will get the opportunity to raise and groom the intrepid wolf pup to a fierce, one-eyed adult. It’s unknown whether his advice will be available over the codec.
