Hi-Rez Studios has announced the release of a Game of The Year edition of Tribes: Ascend on 15th February.
The sci-fi first-person shooter launched as a free-to-play title in April 2012 and was met with a great deal of critical acclaim. “Nothing changes for players that are enjoying the game with the free-to-play model,” said Todd Harris, Hi-Rez Chief Operating Officer, in a press release. “But we now also offer an additional single-purchase option to unlock every weapon in the game.”
Those who purchase the Game of The Year edition will receive “100 weapons, all 9 classes, and all 21 perks.” A new – and free – map pack is being released to coincide with the launch of the new edition, while a new patch for the game is set to introduce “six brand new maps (three CTF & Blitz and three Arena maps), the new Shocklance weapon, and two new cosmetic skins.”
The Game of The Year Edition will be available at a launch discount price of £20.99/€23.99 via Steam and www.tribesascend.com. Existing Tribes VIPs can purchase the new edition for the lower price of £13.99/€15.99 at the same website.
