The award winning series Trine will receive a 3rd installment to the franchise this year (2015) which was announced by Frozenbyte, the developer, with quite a colorful announcement trailer. The game will be called “Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power“.
The official blurb for the game is on the developers website which states.
“The Three Heroes embark on a new adventure through an enchanting fairytale world full of wonders, puzzles, dangerous foes and strange magic – coming 2015!”

At 0:25 into the trailer there is an interesting section which shows the characters being in a sort of 3rd person view, which for Trine has never really been done before. However the 3rd person view would most likely be an automated sequence so it may not even be playable to the player… still interesting nonetheless.
The 3rd person view is then used throughout the trailer which would imply that the game doesn’t only use a mostly left and right running plain but in fact a forward and back plain as well. Personally I think it would add a little more depth to the experience that doesn’t just feel like a left to right puzzle game (no pun intended).
The game appears to be coming to PC first, via the devs official page where we see PC as a platform and others being TBA or the dev will simply just announce the other platforms closer to release so nobody should be worried just yet.
Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power is planned to be released sometime this year.
