After the massive success of The LEGO Movie being one of the biggest films of 2014, Warner Brothers is already planning to expand the franchise in the next few years. The next film will be based on the ninja LEGO series, Ninjago, set for a theatrical release on September 23, 2016 and will be directed by Charlie Bean (Tron: Uprising). The LEGO Movie 2 is currently set for May 26, 2017 with Chris McKay directing. For those worried about the films maintaining some quality, both are being produced by the original directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller.
But, wait, there’s more! Warner Brothers has set two dates for animated films on May 25, 2018 and May 24, 2019. And, according to The Hollywood Reporter, these are both going to be LEGO movies as well. It’s very possible that these could Ninjago 2 and The LEGO Movie 3. It’s not too farfetched given how successful The LEGO Movie was with a $60 million budget that made $468 million worldwide.
