After last week’s explosive statements from an engineer over at EA, it seems like Nintendo’s Wii U may not have many friends left. Even Ubisoft, at one point looked like it was jumping ship by changing their minds, and making Rayman Legends a platform wide release instead of an exclusive for Wii U. In light of recent events, however, Ubisoft has come back around and is steadfast in its belief that the Wii U can pull through amidst the incoming onslaught of the soon to be revealed Microsoft Xbox 720 (next-box) and PS4 consoles. Ubisoft is hoping that, with their list of upcoming hot titles, Nintendo will utilize the opportunity to take advantage of displaying these third party games in a unique way.
A Ubisoft representative said to GamesIndustry International, “As with any new console, it takes some time to grow an established base. Ubisoft has a varied and high-quality line-up for Wii U, with more big titles on the way including Rayman Legends, Watch_Dogs, Assassin’s Creed 4 Black Flag and Splinter Cell Blacklist.” While EA almost made it certainly clear that they would not be designing “any” games for the Wii U they did not rule out making any in the future. Therefore, Nintendo and its Wii U still have a friend in Ubisoft, and hopefully one, that if the friendship dies, it too will not be just a memorable legend as Rayman is.
