Those hoping for a big, snazzy launch of the Virtual Console service on Nintendo’s next generation console may be disappointed to learn that the service will be launching with only eight titles on day one.
The service is due to launch this week in the US and will be accessible after a system update, also scheduled this week, which brings with it improved loading times among other fixes to the Wii U console itself.
The right games coming at launch are:
- Balloon Fight (NES)
- Donkey Kong JR (NES)
- Excitebike (NES)
- F-Zero (SNES)
- Ice Climber (NES)
- Kirby’s Adventure (NES)
- Super Mario World (SNES)
Many of the titles above have already been made available to purchase through Nintendo’s famicon anniversary promotion although others are “new” to the console. No further comments or confirmation was given as to how many titles will launch on what basis by Nintendo.
