The Xbox 360 seemed to kick all kinds of ass during the Black Friday weekend, according to Major Nelson, who just so happened to check the stats for their system collected from Sunday (Nov 18th) to Friday (Nov 23rd). In total, the Xbox 360 sold more than 750,00 units, a number far higher that what was expected. But the data doesn’t stop there, as even the Xbox Live service saw an increase in activity.
Three month Gold subscriptions got a 50% boost, 14 million people were on Xbox Live that Sunday alone and a 43% increase in total hours was seen coming from entertainment apps, when compared to last year. I can’t accurately recall what it was doing during the former half of last week, but I’m pretty sure I was on Xbox Live at some point too. Who would’ve thought that a console this far into its lifespan would still be able to pull in numbers like this?
Congrats, Microsoft and the Xbox 360. People still enjoy what you have to offer and apparently have no problem braving the Black Friday crowd to buy stuff.
