We still may not have a firm date on Yoshi’s Wooly World, but Nintendo’s latest fluff piece can’t oversell its adorable spin on Yoshi and friends. Literally.
In his latest trailer, we see a bit more on just how Yoshi maneuvers around his crazy, cuddly new world courtesy of Koopa tricks. You see, Kamek be troll’in once again and now Yoshi’s friends are all – you guessed it, wool!
Armed with little more than the yarn composing his teeny-tiny body, Yoshi sets out to unspool his pals and battle giant plush fish and hit more plush Shy Guys in the face with yarn eggs, because that’s how Yoshi rolls.
Co-ops the latest feature for the Yoshi brand and in Wooly World, you can play with other players to get around puzzles and no doubt bounce off one another’s soft heads. Can’t get around that fire pit? There’s another Yoshi for that. Co-op is entirely optional, however, but a go-to for players in need of a friend for getting around a tricky section.
Most of all, the trailer shows us how gamers can justify their amiibo addiction in Wooly World – by slapping a mustache on Yoshi. Yep, along with his own bonafide yarn amiibo releasing later this year, plenty of pre-existing amiibo (where you can find them) are compatible with Wooly World.
Link, Mario, Donkey Kong, and Spatoon‘s Squid kids will all change Yoshi’s cute frame into an equally cute version of the amiibo in question, though their role appears to be purely aesthetic.
Yoshi’s Woolly World has no current release date, but Nintendo’s pegged it for sometime later this year only for Wii U. Expect more on it at this year’s E3.
