A blast from the past of the Street Fighter franchise, Zeku is coming to Street Fighter 5. Capcom recently revealed him during the South East Asia Major fighting tournament in Singapore. Zeku follows Menat, and will be the last new character of the season for Street Fighter 5. This follows Capcom’s continued plans to keep supporting the game and adding characters to the mix of the global fighting franchise.
Zeku looks to be an interesting fighter, coming with a mix of fast strikes, and plenty of disappearing tricks. He obviously has a strong ninja vibe going upon first seeing him, and his backstory confirms this. According to Capcom, “First seen in Street Fighter Alpha 2, Zeku was Guy’s former teacher, who taught him to master Bushinryu, a style of ninjutsu. Eventually, Guy was able to obtain the title of 39th Master of Bushinryu. Zeku then disappeared and was never seen again…until now! Zeku has reappeared looking to start his own ninja group and find a new fighting style.” Zeku was first seen in Street Fighter Alpha 2, but only during the training mode and as an unplayable character. Now players get the chance to control him for the first time.
Capcom has now added 8 new characters to Street Fighter 5 since launching. This past season has brought with it both Menat, the fortune-telling fighter, as well as Abigail, another character from the Final Fight series that has been put into the fighting series. It’s been refreshing to see Capcom continue to support Street Fighter 5, giving players plenty of new options of characters to fight with. Additionally, the fact that they continue to draw on the past of their games for treats for their longtime fans is also great to see.
