Arms is about to unleash on gamers for a second weekend of furious fighting, and Nintendo is offering some new modes for players to try out. Over the first weekend, players were treated to the volleyball mode, randomly added during the rounds of fights. The second weekend looks to add basketball and skill-shot to the fray, for 1-on-1 games as well as for 2-on-2 contests. Both add some extra, creative modes to Arms. In basketball, in addition to fighting, players need to grab the opponent to get them in the basket. Skill-shot is a kind of target practice mode, where dummies will pop up as players face off on either side of where the dummies appear and the players need to clear dummies as well as hitting the other players.
The Testpunch is slated to go on for it’s second weekend, ahead of the full release on June 16, with 1 hour blocks available throughout the weekend. One interesting bit of information that Nintendo passed along after the first Testpunch was who the most popular characters were. Surprisingly it was not cover stars Ribbon Girl and Spring Man, but actually Ninjara and Min Min who were the most popular characters used over the first weekend. It will be interesting to see if that changes over the second weekend.
Nintendo looks to have another hit on their hands. Taking the formula that worked for them with creating a stylized, cartoon take on fighting much like they did with Splatoon and other team-shooters, Arms is looking to be an approachable fighter but with a good amount of depth. Nintendo has another round of gaming for Switch players to test the game out with, so will you be trying the game out? Let us know in the comments below if you have been enjoying the game.
