Originally set to be released in August, the highly anticipated sequel to Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor will now be available on October 10th, 2017. The news comes just before E3 2017 where Middle-earth: Shadow of War will likely have a strong presence. Monolith’s Community Manager announced on Warner Bros Games’s forums that the team needs extra time to deliver the “highest quality experience” that is expected from them.
Middle-earth: Shadow of War continues the journey of Talion and Celebrimbor as they attempt to take on Sauron and his Nazgul army. The game’s large selling point is an expansion on its predecessor’s Nemesis system. This time, players will have their own army that can be influenced by the Nemesis system, creating a bevy of unique scenarios and bonuses to Talion when he enters the fight against Sauron. You can expect to see more information about the game throughout E3 week.
Does this news of a delay come as shocking to you? The game was only recently announced at the end of February, but it also seemed like they were well on their way to an August release based on how much video content they had released since then. It is unfortunate, but I can understand with the extremely nuanced Nemesis system that now spans both enemies and allies, that there might be plenty of reasons a delay is needed. Let us know in the comments below if you still plan on picking up the game when it releases in October!
