A day late, but Christopher Cross and Dylan Schwan had to contemplate our very existence and whether not everything in our life is as it seems. Of course, that means we’ve got a review of Blade Runner 2049 for you from director Denis Villeneuve. The sequel to the classic film stars Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford in a story we can’t talk about without spoiling, but we still manage to give our impressions before diving deep into spoilers.
One of our favourite films of the year, The Florida Project, is out in theaters after its festival run so we discuss it in detail and talk about why this film about childhood hit us as hard as it did. It’s a light week for Blu-rays, but the final season of The Leftovers has finally been released so we can remind you once again to watch that show and if you want, listen to our podcast on it. And we’d be remiss not to mention that The Beguiled is also out on Blu-ray, which is another great film from this year that we talked about along with this week’s Blu-ray release of Baby Driver.
But naturally, we can’t avoid talking about the news of the week regarding Harvey Weinstein and the string of accusations levied against him. We hold off on getting dour until then but it’s an important conversation to have.
Next week, tune back in for our review of Brawl in Cell Block 99.
Film Fallout is a weekly podcast about film and television, hosted on BagoGames.com. Every week, Christopher Cross and Dylan Schwan discuss news happening in the industry, blu-ray releases coming out this week, what they’ve been watching, and then a review of one movie. You can listen to it on SoundCloud, iTunes, or on BagoGames. Also follow us on Instagram for some behind-the-scenes magic. We are both on Twitter, if you’d like to follow us there. Chris is @HammerkopCross, Dylan is @DreaminDylanS, and you can follow the podcast @Filmfalloutcast. And finally, there is a Facebook page for the podcast if you’d like to ‘like’ us on that.
