Guacamelee 2 was announced during PlayStation’s Pre-Show for the Media Showcase at Paris Games Week.
7 years after the events of the first game, you once again play as Juan, who has to wear the luchador mask once again to face a new villain.
In Guacamelee 2, you play as a chicken that can cause quite a bit of destruction based on the gameplay that was shown. In addition, there is four player co-op in the game and a new grappling hook mechanic. The Canadian studio behind this Mexican Metroidvania, Drinkbox Studios, have launched their official website, where you can sign up for email updates.
Guacamelee is a 2013 release that was out on PS3 and Vita. It eventually came to the PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, PC, and Xbox 360. It had an interesting mechanic, which had you switching from the land of the living and the dead. By switching, you solve platforming puzzles and fight enemies from alternate worlds.
No firm release date was given, or even a release window, but Guacamelee 2 will be released “Soon-ish” according to the trailer above. Are you excited to return to the land of the dead with Juan? Let us know in the comments below!
