The Last Guardian was announced back at E3 2009, but here is something you might not know; The Last Guardian began development not long after Shadow of the Colossus was released in North America and Japan in October 2005.
This puts the game at a development time roughly at 5 to 6 years. In that time we have seen Sony first party developers publish full game trilogies in that time. Uncharted, Killzone and Resistance all began around the same time and are now finished and moved on.
It’s really hard to believe that this game hasn’t been released yet. What we wouldn’t give to be a fly on the wall at that studio.
At E3 today the question was asked to Shuhei Yoshida about the games current health and he responded with this comment. “There are some technical issues being addressed. There’s not much to show what it looks like,” he told Game Informer. “This period of time we are unable to give an update, but the game is still in development.”
