Ryse: Son of Rome Raises Its Shield on PC This Fall

Crytek is redressing its army of 1080p centurions into 4K ones with its announced PC port of Ryse: Son of Rome.

Crytek’s Carl Jones, director of business and development, confirmed the Xbox One launch title will arrive on PC with “4K resolution support” sometime later this fall with all its DLC included. Crytek is publishing the game for digital download, while Saints Row publisher Deep Silver will handle Ryse‘s hard copy release.

Jones proudly explained that the move was “another leap in graphics quality for PC gamers” and that Ryse is “the perfect showcase for what’s now possible in high-end PC games.”

He went on to say that the Roman battle brawler will “benchmark PC graphics showcase” later this year and “probably for a long time in [the] future.”

Beyond graphical enhancements, Ryse will boast all of its previously released DLC, including 5 new skins, 11 Arena maps, 5 solo Arena maps, and Ryse‘s new survival mode and three additional maps. The PC port will also contain its special edition bonuses, , namely the Ruins multiplayer map and the Legionnaire’s Trust sword.

The news comes on the heels of reports of Crytek’s cancellation of Ryse 2, which was followed by Deep Silver’s own news that it had acquired Crytek’s former Homefront IP. Crytek has further reported that its development team would be transferred to Deep Silver to continue working on the series’ latest entry, Homefront: The Revolution, for Xbox One/PS4/PC in cooperation with UK law following the acquisition.
