A Han Solo anthology film has been announced today. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will be directing the project.
According to StarWars.com, “the story focuses on how young Han Solo became the smuggler, thief, and scoundrel whom Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi first encountered in the cantina at Mos Eisley.”
Lord and Miller have previously directed The LEGO Movie, 21 Jump Street, and Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs as well as producing last year’s post-apocalyptic comedy show, The Last Man on Earth, with writer and series lead Will Forte.
The film is being written by Lawrence Kasden (Raiders of the Lost Ark, Return of the Jedi, and The Force Awakens) and Jon Kasden (The First Time, Freaks and Geeks, and Dawson’s Creek).
The Han Solo anthology movie is scheduled for May 25th, 2018. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set to release in theaters this December 18th. More information about the future of the Star Wars series is expected at LucasFilm’s panel at Comic Con this week.
