Hajime Tabata, the director of Final Fantasy XV, has confirmed to GameSpot that there will be a simultaneous worldwide release day.
Speaking to GameSpot, Tabata said the following, “This is the first time that we’ve done a packaged, standalone Final Fantasy game with a simultaneous global launch.” He went on, “The first thing we had to do was rearrange our internal structure to create something that could do that. That was the first important work on the project.”
Final Fantasy XV will be the first simultaneous worldwide release for the series. Previously Final Fantasy games have been released months apart. For example, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster came out on December 26th, 2013 in Japan and March 18th, 2014 in North America.
However, this news seems to be a part of a swinging mindset for the company as Kingdom Hearts director Tetsuya Nomura said in a Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD ReMIX art book message, “My only regret was never releasing KINGDOM HEARTS FINAL MIX overseas, so I am very pleased to now give fans everywhere a chance to play it this time in its best format” (via KHInsider).
Final Fantasy XV is currently in development for PS4 and Xbox One.
