The world of Final Fantasy can be both wondrous and confusing for beginners, so the makers of Final Fantasy XIV will be adding a new Mentor System to help new players.
The Mentor System will arrive through Patch 3.2 on February 23, 2016. PlayStation Blog published a Question & Answer article with the Producer and Director of Final Fantasy XIV, Naoki Yoshida. He explains that the status of “Mentor” will only be granted to players who have reached the special criteria and then they can begin to support beginner players. Mentors will also be able to aid in roleplaying. Patch 3.2 will add the Novice Network chat channel to “be used by mentors and new players who have played the game for less than 40 hours. The purpose of this channel is to offer a place for new players to ask mentors about the game and for mentors to give answers to their questions.”
There will also be a method to prevent Real Money Traders from taking part in the Novice Network. Only those who earned the title of Mentor are allowed to invite new players (those with less than 40 hours of gameplay) to the chat. To incite players to become a Mentor, eventually special rewards will be given along with titles and achievements. You can read the entire Q & A article here.
