Also, CD Projekt RED’s previous game The Witcher 3 was famous for its 16 packs of free DLC. The packs included everything from new armors to quests and skins. The developer has yet to disclose exactly what free DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 will entail, but it’s safe to assume we can expect something equal.
As we are entering September, we only have about 2 months left before we can bite into the game. A lot of people are probably nervous about whether the game will be delayed again. Or whether it will live up to the hype surrounding it.
One thing is for sure though, Cyberpunk 2077 will no doubt be given the same kind of post-launch support that The Witcher 3 received. It is also likely we’ll see a lot of new quests be added to the game as we get familiar with Night City. In fact, the game seems a perfect fit for new content being added on a regular basis. New people to meet, and a growing city as the game grows along with its players.
A Growing Trend
Hopefully, this can set a standard for other major publishers. With the success of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, the industry will have to take notice. CD Projekt RED seems intent on giving back to the players as much as the players give to them. And that’s a trend that should be more common.
We’ve had incidents like Fallout 76 adding a subscription service and microtransaction store on top of a full-price game. We hope companies like CD Projekt RED can set a standard for more free DLC and free editions for their players. The industry needs to become more consumer-friendly, and this is a good step towards that.
