The full lineup for this year’s EVO 2018 world’s finals have been revealed, and it definitely has many in the fighting game community talking. The recently released Dragon Ball FighterZ from Arc System Works was revealed as the 8th and final game that will be appearing at the annual tournament. EVO happens every August in Las Vegas, this year August 3 to the 5th at Mandalay Bay, and is easily one of the largest fighting game tournaments in the world.
Dragon Ball FighterZ being added to the lineup has largely shaken up the fighting game community, as many figured that Capcom’s Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite would be appearing at the tournament. The series has long been a staple of EVO, and it seemed likely that it would show, but surprisingly that is not the case. The full lineup for this years EVO is as follows:
- Dragon Ball FighterZ
- Street Fighter V Arcade Edition
- Tekken 7
- Super Smash Bros Melee
- Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2
- Injustice 2
- Super Smash Bros for Wii U
- BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle
It seems a little crazy that there are two Smash Bros games at EVO, however to be fair both games play differently and generally have different crowds. Still, Super Smash Bros Melee is a fifteen-year old game, so it’s pretty impressive that it still gets the viewers that it does. Another interesting note is that the Guilty Gear game, won’t even be released until June, which doesn’t give players much time to prepare for the August tournament.
Whichever way you look at it, EVO 2018 is looking like it’ll be a pretty fantastic tournament, and Dragon Ball FighterZ is always entertaining just to watch, so it’s inclusion should really build up more hype. The registration for EVO opens up this month, so will you be signing up and heading to Mandalay Bay to take on the best fighters in the world? Let us know below if you’ll be going, or what games you are most excited to see.
