Gun Media has gone live with their Friday The 13th: The Game kickstarter with an announcement trailer in tow. The game is a 1 vs 7 third person multiplayer experience that will put you in the shoes of the one and only Jason Voorhees himself, or one of the camp counselor victims of Camp Crystal Lake.
According to the game’s kickstarter page, Gun Media is aiming to create a horror experience that feels as close to the films as possible. Players will have to either try and escape Camp Crystal Lake, or find a way to take down the one playing as Jason. The game will be semi-open world and will run on Unreal Engine 4.
Gun Media also wants Friday The 13th: The Game to be a very adult experience, stating that violence, gore, and nudity are “necessities” to achieve the feeling that the movies possess. This is the reason the dev team has chosen Kickstarter instead of using a publisher. Gun Media is not on its own when it comes down to getting the atmosphere just right, however, as both Sean S.Cunningham, the creator of the original movie, and Kane Hodder, who played Jason in four Friday the 13th movies, are involved in this production.

As I am writing this, Friday the 13th: The Game has already reached over $174.000 of the $700.000 pledge goal, so it’s not hard to imagine that this is a Kickstarter project that might succeed.
