Gamebook Adventures arrives on Android devices as Tin Man Games formally announces the release of An Assassin in Orlandes, the first in a line of digital interactive fantasy gamebooks this weekend at PAX East in Boston.
The debut gamebook in the series sees you, the reader, thrust into the middle of a large conspiracy within the fantasy setting of Orlandes City, where nobles are being systematically murdered by a ruthless assassin no-one seems able to catch. You must make decisions that put yourself and one other most precious to you in great danger. Can you locate the assassin in Orlandes before it is too late?
Ben Britten, Technical Director for Tin Man Games said: “Before we exhibited the iOS versions of Gamebook Adventures at PAX East in 2011, we had clear goals of where we wanted to take the series. However, during the expo we found out that, while a lot of the visitors loved the idea of our products, they had smart phones running Android. This made us realize that we needed to change our plans and bring the series to Android as soon as possible.”
The Android version of Gamebook Adventures stays true to the iOS originals and gives the reader the ability to create a character and take them into the interactive story. As well as choosing the direction of the narrative, the reader must also use the realistic dice-based battle system to defeat creatures they meet and succeed against a range of tricky encounters.
The gamebook series takes place in a vibrant fantasy world and the app comes complete with a highly detailed world map as well as a world guide, giving inquisitive fans an opportunity to learn more about people and places. They will also get hints as to what might be contained in future stories.
“We have seven more gamebooks all ready to go that we will be slowly releasing over the rest of the year. Our second title, The Siege of the Necromancer will follow in the next month or so”, continued Ben.
Gamebook Adventures 1: An Assassin in Orlandes is available now to download from Google Play for around $4.99USD or equivalent price, depending on country.
