Legendary director Keji Inafune has released a New Year’s message for his upcoming Kickstarter project Mighty No. 9. In the video message, which you can watch above, Inafune says that the game is “pretty much finished, and from now on we’ll be heading into the porting and promotional stage”.
Mighty No. 9, which received $3.8 million through crowdfunding, is a 2D sidescroller which bares more than a passing resemblance to Mega Man, a franchise which Inafune himself created. Players take on the role of Beck, a powerful automaton who is the ninth creation in a line of robots. After the other 8 mechanical beings are driven mad by a virus, it’s up to Beck to defeat them.
Inafune has given Mighty No. 9 a tentative Spring 2015 release date. The game is due to come out for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo 3DS, PC, Mac and Linux.
