The new chapter of one of the most high-sounding names in the history of video games was released on May 26, giving the brand a refresh. Minecraft Dungeons has proven to be able to bring players unrelated to the genre to the Diablo-like genre, and to also interest the veterans of the game.

Take note that it takes some time to learn all the mechanics of the game, as it may be complicated for new players to the Diablo-like genre. As already mentioned, this new installment of Minecraft is a Diablo-like hack n slash set in the world of Minecraft.

By moving away from the guidelines of the original game, the developers created Minecraft Dungeons while maintaining what made Minecraft a gold mine. To help you get started in this game, make use of the below Minecraft Dungeons tips and tricks guide. Believe me when I say that this could make your life in the game much easier.

Minecraft Dungeons Tips

REPLAY EACH LEVEL

Let’s start with one of the most important things in this Minecraft Dungeons tips and tricks guide: replay each level to get better rewards. The game worlds and levels are a balanced mix of pre-defined environments and randomly generated rewards.

While the general layout of the levels remains almost unchanged (or in any case very similar), the enemies inside them, the loots and the position of the chests change every time you repeat the level. So replaying the levels and destroying stronger and stronger enemies allows you to get better and better rewards.

Each level has different degrees of difficulty to choose from, and the strength of the enemies and their numbers increase proportionally with the difficulty. The level of potential equipment that could come out is related to the difficulty, and it is possible to view the drop range in the main selection screen.

TAKE THE RECOMMENDED LEVEL SERIOUSLY

Since the rewards are proportionate to the difficulty of the dungeon, it may tempt you to set a higher difficulty for better rewards. Undoubtedly better equipment allows you to have a bigger advantage in subsequent dungeons, but we advise you to take into account the level recommended by the game. In general, selecting a difficulty too high for your level is not worth it.

We recommend that you select a more reasonable difficulty for your level, as some battles may be more frustrating than they actually deserve. Instead, you should play at the maximum level for your possibilities without going beyond the recommended level. Don’t worry, you will still earn suitable rewards and emeralds.

Minecraft Dungeons Tricks

LOW DIFFICULTY FIRST, BETTER EQUIPMENT LATER

Just as the difficulty of a mission determines the quality of the drops, the level itself determines what the drops will actually be. This means that it is always better to have a plan, since more levels available equate to a greater amount of rewards available. We advise you to set the difficulty to the minimum to easily overcome the dungeons, to get the first rewards faster.

After that, you will be able to check rewards and drops in the mission selection menu. However, it is not convenient for you to face the dungeons one after the other on too low difficulties, as you will never be prepared enough to face the most difficult dungeons in the game. Instead, you should replay the levels by increasing the difficulty to get better gear and progress step by step in the game without too many problems.

DON’T SPARE EMERALDS

Besides getting weapons and equipment, it is also possible to find Emeralds in each level. It is possible to spend the emeralds at the two vendors available in the village:

  • A blacksmith, who will arrive in the village after completing the “Creeper Woods” level for the first time.
  • A Merchant, who will appear once the “Pumpkin Patch” is completed for the first time.

These two sellers will give you random equipment in exchange for emeralds. The equipment includes armor, bows, and other weapons, while the artifacts give players temporary boosts to face the dungeons. There is nothing else in the game to spend the emeralds on, so our advice is to spend it when you can.

Try to get new gear every time you have savings. It is not always possible to get better gear than you already have, but it is often possible, so do not hesitate to challenge fate.

DISMANTLE UNUSED EQUIPMENT TO GET EMERALDS

Weapons, equipment, and artifacts have some statistics to take into account, but the most important of all is certainly the level. The higher the level of equipment, the better it is. The equipment got in the past is not salable, but can be dismantled from your inventory. Through this mechanism it is possible to get emeralds by dismantling what you don’t need, and then spending them on other equipment.

DISMANTLE EQUIPMENT TO GET ENCHANTMENT POINTS

Every time you level up in Mojang’s Minecraft Dungeons, you will get enchantment points. Later on, you can spend these points in the inventory to unlock upgrades for your equipment. Our advice is not to accumulate these points, because there is no need.

Once you have dismantled the enchanted equipment, that is the equipment on which you had spent the points, you will get a certain amount of points back. This means that, if necessary, you can change gear quickly and enchant what you need.

Minecraft Dungeons Guide

EQUIPMENT WITH MULTIPLE SPELL SLOTS

I noticed while doing this Minecraft Dungeons tips and tricks guide, that low level equipment only has one equipment slot available for upgrading. In any case, you can spend up to six enchantment points to upgrade the equipped spell and increase its effects. By advancing in the game, however, it is possible to find better and better gear and therefore with a greater number of spell slots.

You can see this feature in the inventory menu in the lower right corner, where there will be slots available or locked according to the level of equipment.

RANGED WEAPONS AGAINST RANGED ENEMIES

In Minecraft Dungeons, against all odds, there are no classes. This means you will have to use whatever resources are available to take out the hordes of enemies. As in all Diablo-like games, it is possible to choose a series of weapons, whether it is melee or ranged, each time you enter a dungeon.

Obviously, in each dungeon you will face a mix of random enemies, equipped with melee or ranged weapons. To successfully overcome the fights that await you, you will have to use both types of weapons alternating them continuously during the dungeon. Use melee weapons for enemies who attack closely and save arrows for skeleton archers.

ALWAYS CONSULT THE MAP

In addition to destroying hordes of enemies and saving trapped inhabitants, Minecraft Dungeons relies heavily on exploration. Each level is complex and has many dead ends, intertwining paths, and branches to explore. Exploring every meander of the map means finding hidden chests and consequently getting a sizeable amount of loot.

You can consult the map, however, in some situations it may distract you from certain things, but it proves crucial to explore each dungeon 100%. At the bottom left of the screen you can see how many chests are hidden in the level, and how many you have found so far. The number of chests also includes hidden ones, but does not take into account those you will find immediately before the fights.

Was our Minecraft Dungeons tips and tricks guide any useful or is it missing something? Leave your thoughts in the comments below. Make sure to read our Minecraft Dungeons review.
