Nintendo’s ringing in the new year with a New 3DS – a New 3DS XL to be precise. The bigger, more powerful handheld system will be releasing later this winter according to the latest Nintendo Direct.
It looks like we’re only getting the New Nintendo 3DS XL too. A smaller version of the system has yet to be announced.
In a video presentation all about the New 3DS, Nintendo America president Reggie Fils-Aime walked us through all of its latest features, including its new shoulder buttons and a revamped, ‘face-tracking’ 3D function that keeps your game in 3D perspective no matter where you turn your head.
The New Nintendo 3DS launches in North America Feb. 13th, just a day shy of Valentine’s Day, and will set you back $200. It’ll come in both red and black when it launches. It also won’t include an AC adapter, so keep your old 3DS ones handy.
The system doesn’t have much in the way of exclusives quite yet, but Xenoblade Chronicles’ 3DS rerelease will be coming to the New 3DS – and only the New 3DS – this coming April and will be available in North America to boot.
