It’s only been two days since 3DS owners were able to embark upon the next exciting Pokémon adventure in the new X and Y versions of the popular franchise, however Nintendo has announced that the title has sold over 4 million units worldwide already!
Whilst this is a fantastic number, X and Y didn’t manage to clinch the top spot in the UK All Format Charts even though many UK retailers started selling the game a day earlier. Although this was a global release (ish), Nintendo has done some math and worked out that these figures mean Pokémon X and Y are effectively the fastest-selling 3DS games of all time.
This record only continues to prove that Pokémon is one of the most influential video game titles in history, if you disagree then prepare to argue with more than 245 million sales (as of March 2013) and one of the most recognizable figures in video games (he’s yellow and says “pika pika“)
Are you among one of the 4 million Pokémon X and Y owners yet? Which starter Pokémon did you choose and why? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
