Population Zero is an upcoming survival MMO by developer Enplex Games Team. It seems to be a co-op experience where you have 168 hours to survive before the game ends. It’s the kind of game that fans of other survival games might want to check out.
As you might be aware, Covid-19 is hitting the world pretty hard by now. All over the planet, people are locked up in quarantine, working from home or otherwise isolated. Though it seems the devs behind Population Zero wants to help people get through this crisis.
Enplex has officially launched their #GamesVersusVirus initiative by outright giving away 5000 Pioneer Founder Packs for the game, which will grant access to the game’s closed beta on March 21st to 23rd. And you will also receive the full game when it launches May 5th. In addition, they are handing out 5000 closed beta invites, making a total of 10,000 keys handed out to the public.
A Battle For Survival
Population Zero focuses heavily on survival. With 168 hours in each game session, it’s up to you to make it against the clock and survive against the hostile elements. The ultimate goal is to repair your reactor, restart the hibernation pod and survive the deadly radiation before the long night.
Each session grants experience points to your player account. Leveling up your account will grant you bonuses and new game modes to alter your experience in Population Zero.
The game features tech trees, perks and quests to also level up your character during sessions. It should give players plenty of opportunities to play around with different builds and playstyles.
There’s also a massive world to explore, and plenty of stuff to do. Seven biomes provide different environments to explore. Though you will also need to eat, drink and craft items to survive in this world.
Incentive To Stay Indoors
With the game’s focus on survival, it feels like a fitting game to play when people are fighting Covid-19. And it feels very much like a gesture to give people something to play together while stuck indoors. While Covid-19 has ruined any chances of there being an E3 this year, it seems more people than ever are turning to games while isolating themselves.
