Earlier this year, a leaked trailer (or “concept video” as Ubisoft called it) suggested that Rayman Legends would launch with amazing NFC capabilities in which you could place a toy/figure onto the Wii U gamepad and get help in the game such as extra life, characters and other means of assistance.
This feature is not coming in Rayman Legends according to creative director Michel Ancel.
“We didn’t announce this officially and it was more the kind of experiment we do when working on new hardware like the Wii U”, Ancel discussed in an interview with The Official Nintendo Magazine UK. “We had prototypes of this and we believe that having real objects manipulating gameplay could be quite innovative. But again, this was a prototype and we won’t discuss it until it’s ready to demonstrate its full potential”.
Are you for or against NFC? Ever since the success of Skylanders, developers can’t be blamed for considering almost physical-like DLC options for fans… can they?
