After countless leaks, rumors, and speculations on the latest gaming updates, Capcom has finally revealed their next-gen Resident Evil game titled Resident Evil 8: Village. The game was teased during the PlayStation 5 reveal event and is coming to next-gen consoles as well as PC via Steam sometime in 2021.
Additional Details
Resident Evil 8: Village is a direct sequel to the 2017 survival horror game Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. Like its predecessor, the game will be played in first-person and will see a return of star protagonist Ethan Winters. This time, however, in an unfamiliar snowy setting plagued with creatures including what seems to be Werewolves.
A familiar face we see in the trailer is the recurring character Chris Redfield, who looks even more different than his usual appearance from earlier games.
As a next-gen title, Resident Evil 8: Village looks visually impressive despite a Resident Evil game that looks much different than we’re used to.
Capcom had this to say on the PlayStation Blog Regarding the game:
“After the events of RE7, Ethan’s world suddenly comes crashing down once again when Chris Redfield, an unexpected yet familiar face makes an appearance, setting off a chain of events that sees a distraught Ethan seeking answers to Chris’s shocking actions… and ultimately finding him in a mysterious village.”
Capcom also states that Resident Evil 8 will have “a greater focus on combat and exploration compared to Resident Evil 7.” While we are yet to see some gameplay or even a specific release date, Resident Evil 8, at the very least, looks interesting, and we can’t wait to see more of it.
