RPG Maker has always remained one of the more popular game creation tools for independent game makers. It has especially been popular for people wanting to make indie RPG’s, hence the name. And it seems we might be seeing a new iteration fairly soon.
RPG Maker MV is set to launch on PS4 and Nintendo Switch on September 8 in North America, September 11 in Europe and September 18 in Oceania.
Make Your Own Adventure
Having RPG Maker on Nintendo Switch will mean that players can create their own adventures on the go. You will have to pay for the editor software to make your own adventures. But playing them only requires the free RPG Maker MV Player. This leaves the door open for RPG Maker users to freely share their content on consoles.
RPG Maker has always been easy to use. Foregoing the need for any coding, you can easily make your own RPG adventures without having to write any code. You can seamlessly create your own world and characters. Even customize your overworld.
RPG Maker comes with a lot of premade assets. But also comes with the tools to make your own. So you have the tools for helping you get started, but also to add more versatility.
First RPG Maker On PS4 And Switch
RPG Maker MV might be the first game creation software available on consoles. So it will be interesting to see what kind of content this will give us. Undoubtedly there will be a fair bit of shovelware, but it will be exciting to see what truly talented people can bring to consoles now.
Of course, having this on the Switch means we might finally see some actual new user-made games on the platform. So far the closest we’ve had is Super Mario Maker, though that is fairly limited to what it is. RPG Maker offers something we haven’t really had before on the Switch.
So keep an eye on the Switch and PS4 in September if you are itching to make your own RPG.
