PlayStation 2 survival horror Siren is set to be digitally released as a PS2 Classic on the North American PlayStation Store on Tuesday, January 15th.
Developed by SCE Japan Studios development team Project Siren was originally released in 2003, Siren is a bleak and challenging survival horror with a distinctly Japanese flavor being set in a small Japanese mountain village which becomes trapped in a literal sea of blood and whose inhabitants transform into deranged and murderous beings known as “shibito”. The game focuses on stealth and patience and also introduced the innovative “sightjack” ability, which allows the player to see through the eyes of nearby enemies.
Known as Forbidden Siren in Europe, the game spawned a sequel on the PS2 and then a remake on the PS3 in the form of the underrated Siren: Blood Curse.
There is no word yet on whether Forbidden Siren will appear as a PS2 Classic in the EU.
