Nippon Ichi Software has revealed that Disgaea 5 will launch for PlayStation 4 next year. This news came as quite a surprise as the game was expected to be revealed for the PlayStation 3, given Nippon Ichi’s desire to continue supporting older platforms. The game’s story revolves around a young demon boy called Kiria who holds a grudge against the Demon Emperor Void Dark. Nippon Ichi’s president, Sohei Niikawa, said that the game was not multi-platform because the developers wanted to make a game ”that could only be done with the PlayStation 4”.
Disgaea is a series of tactical RPGs that have received high praise in both Japan and the West. The last main game to be released was Disgaea 4: A Promise Unforgotten for the PlayStation 3. The game was recently ported to the PlayStation Vita as Disgaea 4: A Promise Revisited. You can see what we thought of the game here.
