Streets of Rage 4 winks at longtime fans, paying homage to them with a fun retro-themed Easter Egg. In fact, in the new beat ’em up game from Dotemu, you will notice that they took 4 retro levels from Streets of Rage 2, and included them as a surprise in Streets of Rage 4. Take note that in this mini-guide we explain to you where to find these retro levels and how to unlock them.
For you to be able to unlock all the retro levels of Streets of Rage 4, you will need to find the related arcade cabinet hidden in the main campaign, and finally interact with it using the taser, which you will get in stage 2. Let’s see together how to unlock each of these 4 retro levels.
Retro Level 1
- Stage: 2
- Location: Police Precinct
- Boss: Jack
- Directions: You will locate the first cabinet in stage 2 of Streets of Rage 4, within the Police Precinct. You can collect the taser by grabbing it from a policeman in front of your cell, and you will notice that the cabinet is clearly visible a few meters ahead. Then you will unlock the first boss fight from Streets of Rage 2, which will see you fight against Jack.
Retro Level 2
- Stage: 4
- Location: Old Pier
- Boss: Zamza
- Directions: You will notice that the second cabinet is located at the end of stage 4, set in the Old Pier. Enter the back of the room with a bright ‘Arcade’ logo on top and destroy the cabinet with your taser. You will unlock a clash with the famous boss Zamza from Streets of Rage 2. Retro Level 3
- Stage: 5
- Location: Underground
- Boss: Abadede
- Directions: The third cabinet is super easy to find and will be clearly visible inside the stage 5 bar. In this case, your boss fight is against the wrestler Abadede from Streets of Rage 2.
Retro Level 4
- Stage: 8
- Location: Art Gallery
- Boss: Shiva & Mr. X
- Directions: Finally, the fourth and last cabinet is located in stage 8 set in the beautiful art gallery. Again, it will be quite easy to spot and you cannot miss it. This unlocks the iconic boss fight from Streets of Rage 2 against Shiva and Mr. X.
