Nintendo presented their E3 Direct today and the game they focused on is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for Switch. It seems an odd choice to base 25 minutes of their time solely on SSB. A major piece upside of this game is the ability to use both new and old GameCube controllers (with an adapter) to battle. Amiibo collectors may use their Smash amiibo in the game in addition to the roster’s fighter’s amiibo.
The Characters
Breath of the Wild players will be excited to learn Link’s main outfit is his Championship’s tunic. Link’s weapons also are from his latest adventure. Looking closely at the video, we can see the quality of Ultimate. Clearly, lots of love and time were poured into creating SSB for the Switch. A total of 65 characters, new assist trophies and a few new stages are in this Direct. A completely new character to the entire series’ roster is Ridley from the Metroid series. The Inkling from Splatoon will make her debut to the Smash field too! With only two new characters are introduced, we can only hope that more will be announced before the winter release. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the Nintendo Switch releases on December 7, 2018.
Looking closely at the video, we can see the quality of Ultimate. Clearly, lots of love and time were poured into creating SSB for the Switch. We can’t really blame Nintendo for wanting to spend so much of their time slot on this one game. It is a long time to wait for Switch owners with very little major titles releasing now through December. There is a possibility of Nintendo is planning to reveal more games later this summer through their Direct videos.
