It seems like the end is near for the development cycle of Dead or Alive 6. According to Koei Tecmo, the final update for the game will launch in mid-April. As the name implies, this update will mark the end for updates and downloadable content support for the fighting game title. It seems like this game has met the same fate as Dissidia NT.
Final Update for Dead or Alive 6 details
The announcement of this patch comes after a year of updates and Season Passes with tons of DLC content. The final Dead or Alive 6 patch, v1.22 will address some as yet unspecified bugs. In addition, there will be two new pieces of cosmetic DLC added to the game.
- “Revival” High Society Costumes
- “Revival” School Uniforms
Don’t worry, current features like online matches, rankings, and the store will remain available. So, you’ll be able to continue playing the game despite the fact that the development has ceased. Unfortunately, this also means that the end of the service could happen at any point in time.
Of course, players can still try the Core Fighters edition of DOA6 to play the game without spending a penny. However, keep in mind that this version only offers four fighters. You can still play through Online Ranked matches and have access to the game’s Arcade, Time Attack, Training and Quest Modes.
Could this mean that Koei Tecmo is going to focus on the development of new games? Maybe Dead or Alive 6 wasn’t as successful as they’d hope it to be. Whichever the case might be, it will be better for players to play the game while it’s still available. Once the online services are pulled, we might see another case of a “Digital paperweight”, if you know what I mean.
