It seems that an Untitled Goose can indeed learn new tricks as a new update to the indie hit game, Untitled Goose Game, is adding local 2 player co-op so you can terrorize the neighborhood in the most goose fashion you can.
The new goose is essentially the same except for a very specific knob on the goose beak and its own unique good honk specific to itself, so at least we won’t be hearing the same honk in stereo constantly. But now you can double the amount of goose shaped chaos that you can wreak havoc within the new co-op mode.
The annoying geese are also coming to new consoles, with a Steam and itch.io slated to release with the new update, and a physical release of the game for PS4 and Switch from iam8bit. Both versions are coming out on September 29th with $35 for the PS4 and the Switch version is going to be $40 and come with a copy of the game’s soundtrack in vinyl, a neat collector’s item for all the goose connoisseurs out there. You can currently pick up the game digitally for Switch for only $20, which is cheap enough to pick up, you could even play on mobile casinos to grab some cash to buy it!
The developers are even participating in an hour-long Q&A session on Nintendo Indie World Twitter on August 20th starting at 4pm ET, where they will answer all your Untitled Goose, shaped questions and maybe even some neat goose memes that all the fans seem to adore.
Untitled Goose Game has become an indie darling of a title, taking many awards for itself due to its charming art style, gameplay, and characters. The game’s premise is rather simple and silly, you are a goose, you do goose things, and goose things involve stealing anything important that most humans would want, honking very loudly and making a fuss, and just being absolutely a deplorable being of chaos.
You essentially play a small-time villain, one that comes in a goose shape and all of his evil deeds are just various pranks that result in making life a tiny bit more difficult for the human co-existing with you. The game is mild and harmless in its approach and that’s what is so charming about it, you aren’t a cartoon mastermind, but an unsuspecting avian threat that just, takes things and runs away with them. Taking your keys, your glasses, your tools, the goose can do it all! You never cause any real harm but anyone can find the reactions of the people that they are slightly inconveniencing as funny and comical, which is why it has so much natural charm.
It received a bunch of awards and nominations across the industry which isn’t bad at all for a game made by a four-person studio. The small indie phenomenon even managed to beat out Kojima’s Death Stranding at the 2020 DICE awards for Game of the Year. Now that’s something to honk about.
