Yeah, you read that right. Valve and Capcom are teaming up to bring new content to their respective zombie/undead franchises, with the Left 4 Dead 2 cast becoming playable characters in the PC version of Resident Evil 6 and three RE6 enemies joining the special infected in Left 4 Dead 2.
“We’re huge Resident Evil fans, so when the opportunity arose to work directly with Capcom to combine L4D2 and RE6, we jumped at it,” said Valve’s Chet Faliszek.
Coach, Ellis, Nick and Rochelle will all have different load-outs created specifically for RE6‘s The Mercenaries No Mercy mode, and The Witch, as well as a miniature version of The Tank, will be making appearances as well.
Meanwhile, back in the world of Left 4 Dead 2, the Lepotitsa, Napad and Ogroman enemies have been brought over by Valve using their Steam Workshop tools, giving the survivors two more special infected to worry about. I think they can handle it though, at this point.
“The Resident Evil 6 team really enjoyed working on this crossover, and we’re confident that our fans will have a great time with it too! We hope you enjoy this unique content,” added Resident Evil 6 Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi.
Both sets of content for Resident Evil 6 and Left 4 Dead 2 will be free, with the RE6 content set to release on April 5th and the Left 4 Dead 2 content scheduled for this Spring.
